A native of Pacifica, CA, Joseph Alderson began studying piano and music at a young age. Mr. Alderson earned his B.A. in Music Composition from the University of California, Santa Barbara. While at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Mr. Alderson studied under the tutelage of Jeremy Haladyna, Leslie Hogan and Sarah Gibson. In addition, Mr. Alderson studied piano with Dr. Charles Asche. Mr. Alderson has scored many short films including ‘Felix’ directed by Charles Stock, ‘Daisy’ directed by Cameron Leingang, and ‘Clowning Around’ directed by Paul Debruynkops IV. While scoring these films, Mr. Alderson has accrued experience collaborating with live musicians to record film scores as well as working with electronic, sampled instruments and music production. Recently, Mr. Alderson’s piece ‘Tree in the Mist’ won a Corwin Award for Chamber music and was played in a composition masterclass by the Villiers String Quartet.
